The Africa Chamber of Iron and Steel Industry (ACISI) is the leading continental body committed to the growth,
regulation, and sustainability of Africa’s iron and steel sector. Headquartered in Ghana, ACISI brings together key players from across the value chain—including mining companies, manufacturers, traders, fabricators, and retailers—into a unified platform for advocacy, collaboration, and progress.
Our members include iron ore miners, steel producers, auto manufacturers, roofing sheet makers, welders, metal fabricators, construction companies, and suppliers of concrete nails, wire mesh, bolts, and nuts—representing the full spectrum of Africa’s vibrant iron and steel industry.
At ACISI, we champion product standardization, working with recognized institutions such as the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), ISO, and PECB-Canada to ensure adherence to international quality and safety benchmarks.
We also advocate for environmental sustainability and workplace safety, partnering with regulatory bodies to implement practices that protect both people and the planet.

Our mission
To promote sustainable growth, standardization, and collaboration within Africa’s iron and steel industry through advocacy, innovation, partnerships, and capacity building.
OBJECTIVES.
To enhance quality standards and asset integrity of iron and steel products and safety practices in steel production across Africa. In line with this objective, ACISI shall declare the Month of March each year as ‘’Industrial Safety Month’’ during which the chamber will create awareness on employee safety and industrial safety practices across the iron and steel value chain in Africa. This will include fire safety training.
To promote easy trading and movement of iron and steel products across boarders in Africa in light of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement. ACISI will create a platform for trading of various iron and steel products across Africa.
To stimulate and shape professional discussions on green steel production in Africa and promote its adoption in a bid to protecting the physical environment and mitigating effects of climate change. Green steel manufacturing utilizes electricity and non-fossil fuels which reduces greenhouse gas emissions as compared to conventional steel making.
To work with governments and international organizations in carving out the right set of policies, programmes and fiscal regimes for exploitation of iron ore resources in various African countries.
